Water  Pressure Formula With Sample Sums

Water  Pressure Formula :

Water pressure p(pa) in pascal is equal to density of water ρ (kg/m3)  in kilogram meter3 and multiply the gravitational force g (ms-2) in meter per second-2 and multiply the height h(m)  in meter. Hence the water pressure formula can be written as

Water Pressure(pa)(kg/m3)*g (ms-2)*h(m)

Where,

P→ water pressure in pascal

ρ → density of water in kg m3

g→ gravitational force in9.81 ms-2

h→ height in m

The water pressure loss formula due to height h is given as,

Pressure loss =0.4335x h

Where,

h→ denotes the height

Sample Problems :

Example 1 :

Calculate the pressure on the take at its bottom? In a tank of height 8cm is filled with water.

Solution :

Given,

Density of water ρ =1000kg/m3

Acceleration due to gravity g=9.8 m/s2

Height h=8cm

The water pressure formula on the tank is given by

P= ρgh

=1000 × 9.8 × 8=78400pa

Example 2 :

Calculate the pressure loss when it reaches the surface? In a waterfall  has a height of 400m.

Solution :

Given,

Density of water ρ =1000kg/m3

Acceleration due to gravity g=9.8m/s2

Height h=400m

The pressure loss formula is given by pressure loss= ρgh

=1000 × 9.8 × 400

=39200pa
