Rotational Power Formula and Sample Problems

Rotational Power Formula :

Rotational power formula P(w) in watts is equal to the torque τ (Nm-1) in Newton per meter-1 and multiply the two and divided by the π value 3.14 and multiply the product of revolutions rpm(min-1) in minute-1.Hence the Rotational power formula can be written as

P(w)= τ (Nm-1)*2/ π *rpm(min-1) /60

Where,

P→ rotational power watts

τ →torque in Nm-1

rpm→ revolutions per minute

Example:1

Calculate torque is 30Nm and rpm is 50 find the rotational power?

Answer:

Torque =30Nm

Rpm=50

P(w)= τ (Nm-1)*2/ π *rpm(min-1) /60

P=30*2*3.14*50/60

P=157.079w

Example:2

Calculate torque is 80Nm and rpm is 20 find the rotational power?

Answer:

Torque =80Nm

Rpm=20

P(w)= τ (Nm-1)*2/ π *rpm(min-1) /60

P=80*2*3.14*20/60

P=167.46w
