Ideal Transformer Equation:

Ideal transformer equation is the voltage at the secondary coil Vs(v) in volts is equal to the voltage at the primary coil Vp(v) in volts and multiply the number of windings of the primary coil N and divided by the number of windings of the secondary coil Np.Hence the ideal transformer equation can be written as

Vs(v)= Vp(v) * Ns /Np

Where

Vs= voltage at the secondary winding

Vp = voltage at the primary winding

Ns = number of windings of the primary winding

Np = number of windings of the secondary winding

There is a second equation that relates the turns ration of primary winding to secondary winding is equal to the ratio of  secondary current to and primary currents. Hence

Is / Ip = Np /Ns

Is=Ip *Np /Ns

Is(v)= voltage at secondary coil

Ip(v) =voltage at the primary coil

Electrical power through the primary coil and secondary coil are the same.

P=Ip * Vp = Is * Vs

Example:1

Calculate the ideal transformer secondary voltage? In a primary winding and secondary winding  a transformer has 1500 turns, 1000 turns. If the primary voltage is 150v.

Answer:

Given that

Transformer primary winding Np =1500

Transformer secondary winding Ns =1000

Transformer primary voltage Vp =150v

Ideal transformer secondary voltage formula is Vs = Vp * Ns /  Np

Vs =150*1000/1500

Vs =150V

Therefore, the ideal transformer secondary voltage is 150 v

Example:2

The primary winding, secondary winding of a transformer has 250 turns, 180 turns.If the primary voltage is 340v,Find the ideal transformer secondary voltage?

Answer:

Given that

Transformer primary winding Np =180

Transformer secondary winding Ns =250

Transformer primary voltage Vp =340v

Ideal transformer secondary voltage formula is Vs = Vp * Ns /  Np

Vs =340*250 / 180

Vs =472.2V

Therefore, the ideal transformer secondary voltage is 472.2 v
