### Carnot Efficiency Equation :

Carnot efficiency equation η _{(p)} in percent is equal to the T_{h} and T_{c} are the absolute temperatures expressed in Kelvin T_{h(k)} – T_{c(k)} in Kelvin and divided by the absolute temperature T_{h(k)} in Kelvin and multiply the 100%.Hence the carnot Efficiency equation can be written as

η _{(p) }= (T_{h(k)} – T_{c(k)} / T_{h(k)})*100%

T_{h} and T_{c} are the absolute temperatures expressed in Kelvin

Calculate the efficiency of a carnot engine with a hot reservoir of 250^{0} c and a cold reservoir of 25^{0} C?

### Answer:

Given that

Hot reservoir temperature T_{h}=250^{0}c

Cold Reservoir temperatuar T_{c}=25^{0}c

We know the formula of carnot efficiency

η = (T_{h} – T_{c} / T_{h})*100%

substitute the input parameters in the above equation we get

η = (T_{h} – T_{c} / T_{h})*100%

η = (250^{0}c – 25^{0}c)/ 250^{0}c *100%

η =90%

Calculate the efficiency of a carnot engine with a hot reservoir of 450^{0} c and a cold reservoir of 220^{0} C?

Given that

Hot reservoir temperature T_{h}=450^{0}c

Cold Reservoir temperatuar T_{c}=220^{0}c

We know the formula of carnot efficiency

η = (T_{h} – T_{c} / T_{h})*100%

substitute the input parameters in the above equation we get

η = (T_{h} – T_{c} / T_{h})*100%

η = (450^{0}c – 220^{0}c)/ 450^{0}c *100%

η=51.1%
