Polarization by Reflection :

Polarization by reflection αB(d) in degree is equal to the product of the arc tan and multiply the reflective index n2(r) in radian and divided by the refractive index n1(r) in radian. Hence the polarization by reflection of Brewster’s angle formula can be written as

αB(d)=arc tan (n2(r) /n1(r))

The formula to find the refractive index 2 in n2=n1 * tan (αB)

The formula for refractive index 1 is n1= n2/ tan (αB)

n1 = refractive index of the medium through which the light propagates

n2 =  refractive index of the medium that reflects light

Calculate the Brewster angle of light that travels from water (n=2.45) into the air?

Solution :

Given that;

Refraction index (n1)=2.45

Refractive index n2=1.5

Brewster angle formual is αB=arc tan (n2 /n1)

αB=arc tan (1.5 /2.45)

αB=31.476 degree

Therefore the Brewster angle 31.476 degree

Brewster’s Angle Example: 2

Calculate the Brewster angle of light that travels from water (n=3.65) into the air?

Solution :

Given that;

Refraction index (n1)=3.65

Refractive index n2=2.5

Brewster angle formual is αB=arc tan (n2 /n1)

αB=arc tan (2.5 /3.65)

αB=34.408 degree

Therefore the Brewster angle 31.476 degree
