Angular Resolution Formula :

Angular Resolution formula is the angular resolution and expressed Θ(r)  in radians is equal to the constant value 1.22  and multiply the wavelength of light λ(nm) in nano meter and divided by the diameter of lens aperture in d(mm) in millimeter.Hence the Angular Resolution formula can be written as

Θ(r)=1.22 *λ(nm) /d(mm)

Where;

Θ= Angular Resolution and expressed in units radians

Λ= wavelength of light in nano meter

D= diameter of lens aperture  in millimeter

Calculate the Angular Resolution of the lens if the wavelength of light is 200nm and aperture diameter is 40mm?

Solution :

Given that;

Wavelength of light Λ=200nm

Aperture Diameter =40mm

We know the formula to find out the Angular Resolution is

Θ(r)=1.22 *λ(nm) /d(mm)

Λ=0.0000002nm

D=0.04mm

Convert the wavelength 200nm to meter

200*0.000000001 meter

Wavelength=2.0000000000000000*10-07 meter

Convert the diameter =40mm to meter

Diameter =40*0.001meter

Diameter=0.04meter

Resolution =1.22*2000000000000002 *10-07/0.04

Resolution=6.100000 *10-06  radian

Calculate the Angular Resolution of the lens if the wavelength of light is 80nm and aperture diameter is 20mm?

Solution :

Given that;

Wavelength of light Λ=80nm

Aperture Diameter =20mm

We know the formula to find out the Angular Resolution is

Θ(r)=1.22 *λ(nm) /d(mm)

Λ=0.0000008nm

D=0.02mm

Convert the wavelength 80nm to meter

80*0.000000001 meter

Wavelength=2*10-08 meter

Convert the diameter =20mm to meter

Diameter =20*0.001meter

Diameter=0.02meter

Resolution =1.22*8*10-8/0.02

Resolution=4.880000 *10-06  radian
